Masters in Professional Studies (MPS) in Labor and Global Workers’ Rights at Penn State University, State College, PA, USA

Penn State University and the Global Labour University (GLU) are pleased to announce the start of the Masters in Professional Studies (MPS) in Labor and Global Workers’ Rights at Penn State in central Pennsylvania in the United States [pending final approval of the program by Penn State University]. Classes for this one-year program will begin on August 25, 2014, and students should plan to arrive approximately two weeks early. The Penn State GLU Master’s program will focus on global workers’ rights, particularly workers’ empowerment rights, and on strategic corporate research and campaigns. Students will also explore labor in the global economy, international financial institutions and the International Labour Organization system. During the summer months, May 15 – August 15, 2015, students will participate in an internship with a US trade union or worker-oriented organization and write a capstone project. Assistantships and scholarships are available and will be awarded based on need and the quality of the application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to acquire some complementary support from their trade union, labor federation, or related organization.
