Application for Programme 2009/2010 in Germany

The student intake for the programme is once a year in September. The sixth intake will be in September 2009. For students whose English language proficiencies are not sufficient, an intensive English course will be obligatory prior to the Masters Programme, beginning in mid September 2009.

It is important to hand in your application as early as possible, so as to ensure sufficient time for processing and to contact you in case we require further clarification or proof of your qualifications (e.g. photocopies of certificates).

 

The application form must have enclosed:

 

  • An officially authenticated photocopy of your recognised bachelor degree in its original language, listing all subjects and grades;
  • Officially authenticated photocopies of all certificates proving the required command of the English language;
  • If applicable, an officially authenticated photocopy of your university entrance examination certificate listing all subjects and grades (in the original language);
  • If applicable, officially authenticated photocopies of your certificates of studies and completion of studies listing all subjects and grades (in the original language);
  • Officially authenticated translations, if the language of the mentioned certificates is not German, English, French, Portuguese or Spanish. You are advised to contact the embassy or consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany on this matter;
  • If applicable, officially authenticated photocopies of certificates of previous professional/vocational experience.

Admission notification will be sent to you by ordinary mail from the University of Kassel as early as possible (approx. mid July).

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Please make sure your application contains the following:

 

  • Certified photocopies of all official transcripts;
  • Copy of your English language proficiency (TOEFL 550/213; IELTS);
  • A completed Statement of Objectives;
  • Reference letter from a trade union certifying practical experience in labour issues;
  • In case you do not have a formal degree a reference from a professor or a recognised (research) institution certifying your skills has to be provided.

Please, fill in the application form legibly in CAPITAL LETTERS and type the required 2 pages (5b. Research Topic(s)) and additional information you wish to provide.

 

Please, do not send original documents. Only submit officially authenticated photocopies of all certificates, as application packages will not be returned.

Process:

Your application will be forwarded to the appropriate departments at both Universities; University of Kassel and FHW Berlin. They will jointly select a list of the prospective students. The decision upon admission will be made by the Academic Board of the Study Programme Labour Policies and Globalisation. Selected students will be contacted approx. mid July to confirm their participation. If you receive an offer we will send you details about the conditions and ask you to confirm the admission at short notice. Please make sure that the notification of admission can be delivered to the address you entered on the form. It is very important to make sure that your e-mail account is valid during the application process.

 

If you do not receive an offer we will inform you about the decision by e-mail. Unfortunately, we are not able to keep unsuccessful applications, so they shall be disposed of shortly after the start of the academic year.
